Important Safety & Usage Guidelines

Pipe dolly trucks are outstanding material handling carts for transporting bars, pipes, steel rods, and other long heavy objects. However, if used improperly, bar cradle carts can present hazards to the operator and anyone nearby. Please review the following guidelines to ensure safe and proper use and to help you select the right cart for your application.

Using a Single Bar Cradle Cart

In many scenarios, a single bar cradle cart is sufficient to transport your stock materials. When using one cart, always center your load and ensure the bar or pipe is evenly distributed along its entire length. Never move unbalanced materials on a single cradle cart. If the weight is concentrated to one side, the load will be at risk of tipping off. Three different cart lengths are available β€” 24", 36", and 48" β€” and a good rule of thumb is to never transport materials more than 3 times longer than the cart itself. This helps ensure proper balance and prevents the ends from bowing or sagging. Always stay within the rated load capacity.

Using Two or More Bar Cradle Carts

Employing multiple bar cradle carts enables the operator to store and transport much longer material lengths. Each additional cradle cart under your load adds 3,000 pounds to your total capacity. Multiple pipe dolly trucks should always be used when handling unbalanced pipe β€” for instance, iron duct pipes with a flange on one end. For best results, distribute the cradle carts evenly beneath your load to prevent sagging and bowing of materials that could otherwise bend.

LQ Series β€” 5,000-lb Capacity Bar Cradle Truck

This model is constructed with an all-welded steel frame using 3" structural channel. All pipe dolly trucks in this series include 3 cradles, evenly positioned β€” one at each end and one in the center. The combination of swivel 6" Phenolic casters on both ends and larger 10" rigid casters in the center allows the unit to be maneuvered with ease throughout your facility.

LZ Series β€” 10,000-lb Capacity Bar Cradle Truck

The super heavy-duty bar transporter, this series is constructed with 4" structural channel framing. Each unit is fitted with 4 cradles, welded directly to the 4" frame for exceptional strength and lasting durability. This line of bar cradle truck features 8" swivel casters at the ends and 12" center casters for smooth transportation even under the heaviest loads.

Low Bed Height Advantage

The two low-profile bar cradle trucks feature bed heights of 14" and 16" respectively. This low-profile design makes loading heavy materials easier since they don't need to be lifted high off the floor. Additionally, if a load were to spill during transit, materials would not fall from a height greater than 16", significantly reducing the risk of injury from high-impact falls.
