The AMSEC BFS Home Safe Series offers an excellent combination of fire and burglary protection for your valuables
The BFS4520 Amsec Home Safe was UL RSC certified with the Residential Security Container Burglary Rating due to its thick steel construction and added security features. The BFS home safes have a 4 ⅝" total door thickness that includes a 1/2" thick steel plate on the door. The safe comes with a 2 5/16" total body thickness. Securing the door shut are 10 active 1 ¼" thick steel locking bolts - locking in 4 directions.
The American Security BFS Burglary & Fire Home Safes have been ETL certified with 60 minutes of fire protection. This means that when Intertek Laboratories tested the safe for an hour, the internal temperature never passed 350° Fahrenheit. AMSEC also adds a special door seal that expands when heated creating a smoke seal around the door.
The AMSEC BFS4520E1 home safe comes with the UL Listed ESL10 Electronic Lock, which is a very reliable American Security lock. This lock comes with a spring-loaded relocker that will offer extra protection for the lock in the case of an attempted burglary attack on the safe.
The BFS burglary and fire home safes are finished in a beautiful two-tone paint including a textured black body and smooth gray door. The interior of this model comes with 3 adjustable/removable steel shelves for neatly storing your valuables inside. The safe comes with a 3-spoke chrome turn handle to open the door. The safe has one bolt down hole pre-drilled and mounting hardware included for securing the safe to the floor. Regular Cleaning – Wipe the exterior with a soft microfiber cloth to remove dust and debris. For tough stains, use a mild soap solution and a damp cloth, then dry the surface thoroughly to prevent water damage.
Lubricate the Locking Mechanism – Apply a dry lubricant or graphite powder to the safe’s lock and bolt mechanism to keep them operating smoothly. Avoid oil-based lubricants as they can attract dust.
Battery Maintenance (If Electronic) – Replace the batteries in the electronic lock annually or whenever the battery indicator shows low. This helps to avoid lock malfunctions when you need it most.
Interior Care – Vacuum or brush the interior to keep it free of dust. Avoid using damp cloths inside the safe to prevent moisture buildup, which could cause corrosion.
Moisture Control – Place desiccant packets or use a dehumidifier inside the safe to absorb any excess moisture and protect your valuables from rust or mold.
Inspect the Seals – Periodically check the door seals for any cracks or damage. The seal is essential for maintaining fire resistance and ensuring your safe remains airtight in the event of fire.
Test Lock Functionality – Regularly check the operation of the locking mechanism, ensuring that all bolts engage properly when the door is closed.
Fireproofing Maintenance – After exposure to heat, such as from a fire or extreme temperature, check the fireproofing integrity. Contact the manufacturer if you suspect any compromise to the fire resistance.
Check for Tampering – Perform regular security checks to ensure the safe hasn’t been tampered with. Look for any unusual signs such as dents, scratches, or tampering around the lock area.
Proper Storage – Store valuables properly within the safe, ensuring that heavier items are on the bottom to prevent undue stress on the locking mechanism and ensure even weight distribution.
