Clean the Concrete Surface: Regularly wipe down the concrete with a damp cloth to remove dirt, dust, and stains. For deeper cleaning, use a mild, pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid abrasive or harsh chemicals that could damage the concrete's finish.
Maintain the Copper Spillway: Clean the copper spillway with a soft cloth and copper-safe cleaner to maintain its luster. If you prefer the natural patina look, allow it to develop over time. For those wanting to preserve the shine, apply a protective sealant.
Fire Glass or Media Care: Periodically remove fire glass or decorative media and clean it with warm, soapy water to remove soot, dirt, and debris. Allow it to dry thoroughly before returning it to the unit to prevent moisture buildup.
Inspect Burners and Water Jets: Regularly check the burners and water jets for any obstructions or debris that could affect performance. Use a soft brush to clean these components, ensuring smooth water flow and efficient flame operation.
Descale the Water System: If you're using hard water, mineral deposits may accumulate. To prevent scaling, consider using distilled or filtered water. If scaling occurs, use a descaling solution to clean the water system and maintain optimal function.
Electronic Ignition Maintenance: Keep the electronic ignition system clean and dry. Inspect the connections regularly to ensure there is no corrosion, and replace any faulty parts or batteries as necessary to maintain reliable ignition.
Check Gas Connections: Inspect the gas hoses, connections, and regulator for leaks or signs of wear. If you smell gas, immediately turn off the gas supply and contact a professional for inspection and repair.
Protect from Weather: When the fire bowl is not in use, cover it with a weather-resistant cover to protect it from rain, snow, and UV exposure. This will help preserve the integrity of the concrete, copper, and other components.
Seasonal Maintenance: Before long periods of inactivity, turn off the gas supply, drain the water system, and cover the unit. This will protect it from freezing temperatures and minimize wear and tear from the elements.
Use Non-Abrasive Cleaning Tools: Always use soft cloths and non-abrasive cleaning tools to avoid scratching or damaging the concrete, copper, or glass surfaces.
