Durston 1061 Pedestal Stand for Rolling Mills - 128.173
The Durston 1061 Pedestal Stand is a purpose-built floor stand designed to securely mount Durston rolling mills at a comfortable working height. Pre-drilled to accommodate a wide range of Durston mill models, this stand provides a stable, dedicated workstation for sheet and wire rolling operations in a professional studio or shop environment.
Compatible models include all Durston Mini-Mills, the full DRM line (DRM 100, DRM 130, and DRM 150) in both reduction gear and non-reduction gear configurations, and the Agile line of Durston rolling mills (from April 2019). Note that the Agile 165 aligns with 2 holes on the pedestal stand; the recommended minimum for secure mounting is 2 holes used.
This stand does not fit any version, new or old, of the D2 120, D2 130, or D4 158 over-and-under rolling mills.
Mounting hardware for securing the stand to the floor is not included. If permanent floor mounting is not possible in your shop, a practical workaround is to mount the pedestal to a sheet of 1/2" or 3/4" plywood cut at least 6 feet long and 3 feet wide, with the stand centered so the rolling mill handle grip runs perpendicular to the long dimension of the plank.

What our Experts Think
-
Rock-solid foundation for rolling mills: The Durston 1061 Pedestal Stand (128.173) is engineered to eliminate vibration and movement, giving your rolling mill a stable, professional-grade base.
-
Workshop-optimized stability: Heavy-duty steel construction ensures consistent support during high-pressure rolling, improving safety and precision in metal forming.
-
Compact industrial design: Fixed-height pedestal format (~900 mm tall) keeps working ergonomics consistent while minimizing footprint in busy studio environments.
-
Wide compatibility: Designed for Durston Mini Mill, DRM 100, DRM 130, and DRM 150 models, making it a versatile upgrade for most standard Durston rolling setups.
-
Secure mounting system: Pre-drilled top plate allows direct bolting of the mill, reducing slippage and ensuring long-term alignment accuracy under load.
-
Professional workshop upgrade: Best suited for jewelers moving from bench-mounted mills to a dedicated, floor-stable setup where repeatable precision is critical.
Q&A
Q: What is the Durston 1061 Pedestal Stand used for?
A: It is a heavy-duty metal stand designed to provide a stable, fixed base for Durston rolling mills, improving safety, precision, and working height in a workshop setup.
Q: Which machines is it compatible with?
A: It is designed for Durston Mini Mills, DRM 100, DRM 130, and DRM 150 rolling mills, including both standard and reduction gear versions.
Q: Is it compatible with all Durston rolling mills?
A: No. It is not suitable for D2 130 or D4 158 models, as those require different stand systems.
Q: What are its dimensions?
A: Approximate size is 900mm height × 300mm width × 300–350mm depth, giving a compact but stable footprint for bench or floor mounting.
Q: What is it made from?
A: It is constructed from heavy-duty steel, designed for rigidity and vibration resistance during rolling operations.
Q: Does it need to be fixed down?
A: Yes, it is intended to be bolted securely to a floor or solid base for maximum stability during use.
Q: Why use a pedestal stand instead of a table?
A: It prevents movement and vibration while rolling, improving safety, consistency, and roller alignment, especially under heavy load.
Q: Is it suitable for professional use?
A: Yes, it is designed for jewelry workshops and production environments, where stable, repeatable rolling performance is required.
Q: What makes this stand different from a normal bench?
A: Unlike standard furniture, it is purpose-built for rolling mills, with pre-drilled mounting points and reinforced structure to handle high force and vibration.
Maintenance Tips
-
Keep base clean: Regularly remove metal dust and debris to prevent buildup around mounting points and floor contact area.
-
Check floor bolts: Ensure the stand is securely anchored to the floor to maintain maximum stability during rolling operations.
-
Tighten mill mounts: Periodically inspect and tighten the bolts securing the rolling mill to the stand.
-
Maintain level alignment: Verify the stand remains perfectly level to ensure accurate roller alignment and consistent output.
-
Prevent rust: Wipe down metal surfaces and apply a light anti-corrosion coating if exposed to humidity.
-
Inspect structure: Check for loosening, wobble, or stress points in the frame over time.
-
Avoid overload/shock: Do not apply side impacts or excessive force to the mounted mill setup.
