Durston Cabinet Style Rolling Mill Stand - 128.117

The Durston Cabinet Style Rolling Mill Stand is a purpose-built, lockable cabinet stand designed to support a wide range of Durston rolling mills. Pre-drilled for precise alignment, it provides a stable, organized workspace for demanding studio and shop environments.

The stand is pre-drilled to fit the Durston D2-130 and D4-158 stacked mills, as well as all Durston DRM 100, 130, and 150 rolling mills and all Durston Mini-Mills. This version will also fit the C140 and Agile mills, though only 2 holes will line up. The Agile can be mounted using 2 holes, or the top can be drilled to accommodate additional holes if desired.

For the Olivia Rolling Mill, the cabinet door will be obstructed by the turning wheel. The stand will need to face the opposite direction so the door can open fully.

Maintenance Tips
  • Purpose-built soft-forming tool – Designed for shaping sheet metal without leaving dents or surface marks, making it ideal for jewelry and fine metalwork.
  • Head construction – Made from tightly rolled buffalo rawhide, glued and screwed onto a hardwood handle for durability and controlled impact.
  • Non-marking performance – The rawhide face absorbs impact, protecting soft metals while still delivering enough force for forming and planishing.
  • Pre-use conditioning (important) – Lightly rasp or sand the hardened outer coating, then dampen and rework the surface to achieve a softer, more effective striking face.
  • Cleaning & care – Keep dry after use; avoid soaking during storage. Lightly brush off metal dust and store in a low-humidity environment to prevent head degradation.
  • Usage best practice – Use controlled, light-to-medium strikes on annealed metal only; avoid steel-to-steel contact to extend mallet life.
  • Longevity tip – Trim and recondition the rawhide head over time as it wears, rather than replacing the tool.
