GE Q-Line THQL 20-amp 1-Pole Gfci Circuit Breaker - 71223237
The GE 20 Amp Single Pole Ground Fault Circuit Breaker with Self-Test has a tin-plated copper stab to create a reliable, permanent and corrosion resistant connection. It is used as a substitute to GFCI wall outlets allowing the customer to know exactly where to go (back to electrical panel) in the event of a tripped circuit. No more searching for the correct wall outlet to reset. The Self-Test functionality is a UL requirement on all GFCI devices commencing in June 2015. This variant of the GFCI ensures its ground circuitry is functioning properly by automatically running diagnostic testing on a periodic basis. Should a problem be detected, the circuit breaker will trip and will need to be replaced.

Maintenance Tips
-
Test monthly using the built-in “Test” button to ensure proper ground-fault protection.
-
Keep panel dry and clean—moisture or dust can affect breaker performance and safety.
-
Avoid frequent tripping causes like overloads or faulty appliances; investigate root issues instead of resetting repeatedly.
-
Ensure correct panel compatibility (GE Q-Line / THQL load centers only) for safe operation and proper fit.
-
Do not mix incompatible breaker brands in the same panel to prevent overheating or poor contact.
-
Check wiring tightness during maintenance (power OFF) to avoid arcing or heat buildup.
-
Inspect for discoloration, burning smell, or heat—replace immediately if any signs appear.
-
Keep labeling clear in panel to quickly identify GFCI-protected circuits during troubleshooting.
-
Do not force reset after repeated trips—this indicates a wiring fault or ground leakage that must be fixed.
