NEW Surly Grappler Gravel Bike Frameset - 27.5, Steel, Subterranean Homesick Blue - 210000054233

The Grappler is Surly’s dedicated drop-bar trail bike. With mountain geo designed around a comfortable, confident drop-bar hand position, it’s lively and responsive on single track, double track, and other degraded surfaces. Ready to haul essential gear for all-day dirt rides and quick bikepacking excursions, thru-axles front and rear provide ideal stiffness and handling. Built around 27.5” wheels and compatible with internally geared hub and single-speed setups, Surly’s tried-and-true Gnot-Boost spacing allows riders to run 142mm or 148mm rear hubs.

  • Seatstay-mounted bottle bosses, plus three-pack mounts at the top and bottom of the down tube and stealth dropper post routing

Maintenance Tips
  • Clean frame and fork after gravel, mud, or wet rides to prevent corrosion and buildup.
  • Inspect chromoly steel frame regularly for paint chips, rust spots, dents, or stress marks; touch up exposed steel promptly.
  • Apply internal frame rust inhibitor annually, especially in wet, humid, or coastal environments.
  • Grease all threaded interfaces (bottom bracket, headset, thru-axles, bottle/rack mounts) to prevent seizing.
  • Check disc brake mounts and dropout alignment regularly for consistent braking and wheel fit.
  • Maintain drivetrain (chain, cassette, chainring) with frequent cleaning and lubrication, especially after rough terrain riding.
  • Ensure tire clearance stays free of packed mud or debris, particularly with wider 27.5 gravel setups.
  • Inspect rack and frame mounts regularly if used for bikepacking or cargo setups.
  • Avoid pressure washing to protect bearings and prevent water intrusion into frame tubes.
  • Store indoors in a dry place to preserve steel durability and finish longevity.
