We re-designed every aspect of the cage to maximize forward visibility and safety throughout the structure.
The new FB-V2 cage is built with 1-3/4 X .120 Wall DOM tubing with 1.5 X .095 Support tubing and laser cut .125 sheet metal bracing in all the correct spots.
To maximize visibility and enhance the profile we leaned the A-Pillar back 5 degrees and placed the top crossbar as high up in the bend as possible. This keeps front visibility the same as our taller Sport cage with a 3-1/2 inch lower front roof line.
Now that we had the A-Pillar where we wanted it, we tackled the A-2 pillar. This is a new design feature for us and we wanted to make sure we gave it our level of detail and style. The purpose of this tube is to support the A-Pillar and tie it back into the chassis. Polaris engineers did us a solid by beefing up the chassis under the dash and providing the proper structure to tie the cage back into. By utilizing this mounting point we were able to create a seamless and strong A-2 Pillar support that looks clean and is completely out of the way of your feet and ankles. A template is provided to eliminate guesswork and make cutting the fender easy and straightforward.
next up we moved the B-Pillar more vertical to even out the distance to the A and C pillars. A subtle difference, but it really cleans up the lines and adds strength and rigidity in a rollover. We also moved the b-pillar support tube to the inside providing a unique grab handle location for getting in and out of the car and again adding support to the upper structure.
moving to the back, we again brought the C-Pillar more vertical for even distance from the B-Pillar and to create a proper triangle structure at one of the most critical points on the cage. Adding in rear v-bar support tubes and multiple sheet metal corner gussets throughout the roof structure gives this cage superior strength and design over the competition.
To finish things off we re-designed the rear down tube to follow the rear plastics as close as possible with a double bend design that finishes off clean.
As with all SDR cages, they are Built from 1.75 DOM steel tubing. Each tube is CNC cut and bent in house using state of the art equipment ensuring the quality, fit, and finish you have come to expect from SDR Motorsports products. Every cage is then fit and welded to perfection in our industry leading modular cage fixtures usually only seen in Trophy Truck fabrication shops by our talented team of welders.
