Voile Hyper V6 Alpine Touring Ski - 759948918082

When Voile paired down their V8 into its more nimble counterpart the V6, it instantly became one of our favorite skis on the rack as a versatile daily driver. This newest rendition of the V6, Voile has taken the shape and performance we love and shed upwards of 15% of the weight. The new Hyper series saves on grams thanks to a lightweight paulownia wood core woven with double the amount of carbon fiber relative to the traditional V6, and topped with reinforced mounting zones so it maintains performance and durability. At the end of the day, we're seriously psyched that the V6 we love is lighter and capable of taking us further, faster.

What our Experts Think
  • Ultralight carbon-enhanced construction delivers exceptional efficiency for long backcountry ascents.
  • Versatile all-mountain shape provides a confident balance of flotation, stability, and maneuverability.
  • Hybrid rocker profile promotes effortless turn initiation and smooth performance in powder and mixed snow.
  • Lightweight design helps reduce fatigue while maintaining reliable downhill control.
  • Quick, responsive handling excels in trees, technical terrain, and variable backcountry conditions.
  • Wide enough for soft snow adventures while remaining agile on firmer surfaces.
  • Ideal for ski tourers seeking a single setup for powder days, spring missions, and everyday backcountry exploration.
  • A proven favorite among alpine touring enthusiasts thanks to its blend of climbing efficiency and fun, predictable descents.

Q&A

Q: What makes the Voile Hyper V6 Alpine Touring Ski unique?
A: The Hyper V6 combines ultralight uphill efficiency with versatile all-mountain performance, featuring a paulownia wood core and double carbon construction that reduces weight by 13–15% versus the standard V6.

Q: Who is the Hyper V6 designed for?
A: It’s ideal for backcountry and alpine touring skiers seeking a lightweight, easy-to-ski setup that performs confidently in powder, mixed snow, and long touring days.

Q: How does the Hyper V6 perform in powder?
A: The wide shovel, tapered shape, and Hybrid Rocker profile provide excellent flotation, quick turn initiation, and a smooth, surf-like feel in soft snow.

Q: Is the Hyper V6 lightweight?
A: Yes. Depending on length, pair weights range from approximately 2,270 g to 2,900 g, making it an excellent choice for efficient ascents and reduced fatigue.

Q: How does it handle varied terrain?
A: The Hyper V6 offers quick edge-to-edge responsiveness, stable handling, and predictable control across powder, spring corn, and mixed backcountry conditions.

Q: Is the Hyper V6 suitable for resort skiing?
A: It can handle occasional resort laps, but its lightweight design is optimized for touring and soft-snow backcountry performance rather than aggressive hardpack or crud skiing.

Maintenance Tips
  • Wax the sintered base regularly (every 3–5 touring days in heavy use) to maintain speed, glide, and base durability.
  • Keep edges sharp and rust-free for reliable grip on firm snow and icy traverses; dry thoroughly after each outing.
  • Repair base gouges promptly with P-Tex to prevent deeper damage and preserve performance. The Hyper V6’s sintered base is designed for durable repairs.
  • Inspect binding mount areas regularly, especially on lightweight touring setups, and tighten hardware as needed.
  • Dry skis and climbing skins completely before storage to prevent rust, adhesive issues, and material degradation.
  • Apply a thick storage wax in the off-season and store skis in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.
  • Avoid prolonged impacts on rocks and thin coverage, as the lightweight carbon/paulownia construction is optimized for low weight rather than abuse.
