FRIEDRICH Hazardgard - SH15M30A-KT
Than three decades, global industry and high-tech leaders have trusted Hazardgard to provide commercial-grade cooling under the harshest conditions. You'll find durable, reliable Hazardgard room air conditioners on oil rigs and military bases, in manufacturing companies and processing plants - anywhere hazardous materials are used. Hazardgard is specifically designed to cool spaces where volatile, flammable liquids and gases are used, within enclosed systems or containers, or under extreme temperatures.
Temperature Classification
Electrical equipment, like hazardous location air conditioners, that may be exposed to specific, hazardous gases or vapors in the area where it will be used, cannot reach temperatures that exceed 80% of the auto-ignition temperature of those gases or vapors. Hazardgard has a T4 rating which means that it's surface temperature should not exceed 135(degree)C or 275(degree)F. (Note: 50/60Hz model listed as T4A for surface temperatures to 120(degree) C/248(degree) F).
Electrical Equipment Label Temperature (C) Temperature (F) T1 450(degree)C 842(degree)F T2 300(degree)C 572(degree)F T2A 280(degree)C 536(degree)F T2B 260(degree)C 500(degree)F T2C 230(degree)C 446(degree)F T2D 251(degree)C 483.8(degree)F T3 200(degree)C 392(degree)F T3A 180(degree)C 356(degree)F T3B 165(degree)C 329(degree)F T3C 160(degree)C 320(degree)F T4 135(degree)C 275(degree)F T4A 120(degree)C 248(degree)F T5 100(degree)C 212(degree)F T6 85(degree)C 185(degree)F
The above chart illustrates that 200(degree)C is the maximum surface temperature for any electrical equipment with a temperature classification of T3 or higher.
Auto-Ignition Temperatures
(Vapors and Gases)
The maximum temperature at which a liquid, gas or vapor can ignite without the help of an outside source of heat is the auto-ignition temperature. These temperatures are determined based on conditions during laboratory testing. For example:
Gas Temperature (C) Temperature (F) Methane 580(degree)C 1076(degree)F Hydrogen 560(degree)C 1040(degree)F Propane 493(degree)C 919.4(degree)F Ethylene 425(degree)C 797(degree)F Acetylene 305(degree)C 581(degree)F Naphtha 290(degree)C 554(degree)F
Some surfaces, like that of a high-pressure steam pipe, can have a greater auto-ignition temperature than certain mixtures of fuel and air.
Auto-Ignition Temperatures
(Dust)
As seen on the chart below, the auto-ignition temperature of dust is typically greater than the auto-ignition temperature of vapors and gases. Such examples include:
Substance Temperature (C) Temperature (F) Sugar 460(degree)C 860(degree)F Wood 340(degree)C 644(degree)F Flour 340(degree)C 644(degree)F Grain Dust 300(degree)C 572(degree)F Tea 300(degree)C 572(degree)F
