Portable Winch PCH1000 Gas-Powered Pulling/Lifting Winch GXH50 - PW,PCH1000

Lifting in complete safety: Specifically designed for the lifting needs of the industrial sector, the PCH1000 features the Progressive Capture System (PCS), which is essential for lifting, lowering and holding loads safely. Whether for telecommunications structures assembly, for lifting various equipment on a site or simply for pulling loads, the PCH1000 is versatile and safe. In addition, a wide variety of anchoring systems are available so you can easily do your setup.

Design: Located between the engine and the gearbox, the clutch system ensures that the capstan drum does not rotate when the engine idles. Once the rope is inserted into the PCS, the operator activates the clutch and initiates the movement simply by pulling on the rope horizontally. The rope grabbing system prevents the rope from slipping on the drum and holds the load when the rope is released. The winch can also be used to lower a load by disengaging the Progressive Capture System. To do this, the operator should simply pull the handle of the grabbing system cord and control the main rope during the descent.

Performance: Equipped with the 4-stroke GXH50 Honda engine, the PCH1000 develops a pulling force of 1,710 lb and offers a lifting capacity of 550 lb in a single line setup. Of course, a block and tackle system will allow you to increase its capacity!

What our Experts Think
  • Dual Pulling & Lifting Capability: Engineered for both horizontal pulling and controlled vertical lifting applications in professional field environments.
  • Honda GXH50 Engine Reliability: Delivers consistent power, strong torque, and dependable starts for demanding outdoor operations.
  • Heavy-Duty Capstan System: Supports continuous rope feed for extended pulls without spool limitations, improving operational flexibility.
  • Built for Industrial & Forestry Use: Ideal for rigging, utility work, logging, and remote recovery tasks requiring serious pulling strength.
  • Rugged, Field-Ready Construction: Designed to withstand harsh environments with durable components and professional-grade build quality.
  • Controlled Load Handling: Provides smooth, steady pulling and lifting performance to enhance safety and precision during use.
Q&A

Q: What is the Portable Winch PCH1000 Gas-Powered Pulling/Lifting Winch (GXH50)?
A: A professional-grade portable capstan winch designed for both controlled pulling and light lifting operations, powered by a Honda GXH50 4-stroke engine with an integrated Progressive Capture System (PCS)

Q: What engine does it use?
A: It uses a Honda GXH50 50cc 4-stroke engine, known for reliability, low maintenance, and stable torque output for field and industrial use.

Q: What is its pulling and lifting capacity?
A: It delivers about 775 kg (1,710 lb) pulling force and around 250 kg (550 lb) lifting capacity in a single-line setup, with higher capacities possible using pulley systems.

Q: What makes the PCH1000 different from standard winches?
A: It uses a capstan rope system with a Progressive Capture System, meaning it grips and controls the rope continuously rather than storing it on a drum—allowing long or “unlimited” rope length and safer controlled lowering.

Q: Can it lift loads safely?
A: Yes, unlike many capstan winches, the PCH1000 is designed for both pulling and controlled lifting/lowering, using its rope capture system to hold loads in place when stopped.

Q: What is it used for?
A: Common uses include telecom tower work, construction rigging, forestry pulling, equipment installation, and field operations where both pulling and light lifting are needed.

Q: Is it suitable for vertical heavy lifting like a hoist?
A: No. While it can lift controlled loads, it is not a full industrial hoist and is best suited for light-to-moderate lifting with proper rigging systems.

Q: Why choose the PCH1000?
A: It combines portability, Honda engine reliability, and a safety-focused capture system, making it one of the few portable capstan winches capable of both pulling and controlled lifting in professional environments.

Maintenance Tips
  • Check engine oil level before each use; change oil regularly per Honda GXH50 maintenance schedule.
  • Inspect winch frame, hook points, and lifting components for cracks, bends, or loose hardware.
  • Clean capstan/drum after every use to remove dirt and maintain proper rope grip.
  • Inspect rope or cable before each operation; replace if frayed, worn, or damaged.
  • Keep air filter clean and replace when dirty to maintain engine performance and fuel efficiency.
  • Use fresh fuel; drain tank and carburetor for long-term storage to prevent clogging.
  • Ensure throttle, recoil starter, and controls operate smoothly before each use.
  • Tighten bolts, pins, and mounting hardware regularly to maintain safe lifting stability.
  • Keep engine cooling fins and housing free of debris to prevent overheating.
  • Do not exceed rated lifting/pulling capacity to avoid structural or engine failure.
  • Store in a dry, covered area and perform periodic test runs to maintain readiness.
