Backwoods Adventure Toyota Tacoma Bed Rack - DRIFTR Topper (Add-on) - BWTT4B-9850
Our Toyota Tacoma Bed Rack DRIFTR Topper essentially adds an entire roof rack on top of your truck's Bed Rack. If you need additional height to clear the cab of your truck because of a longer, wedge style roof top tent, this will allow you to achieve that. Without the topper, our bed rack is flush or nearly flush with the cab. When paired with our DRIFTR Roof Rack, you get a super solid, even level deck from the front of your truck to the back.

What our Experts Think
-
Modular âcab-height extensionâ system â The BWTT4B-9850 DRIFTR Topper is designed to sit on top of the existing Backwoods bed rack, effectively creating a second-level roof rack platform above the bed rack for taller and more complex overland builds.
-
Purpose-built for rooftop tent clearance â Experts highlight its main role: raising mounting height so wedge-style or long rooftop tents clear the cab cleanly, while also enabling a perfectly level cab-to-bed rack system when paired with matching roof setups.
-
Heavy-duty lightweight aluminum structure â Constructed from ~0.25-inch thick aluminum side rails with triple-slotted extrusions, it prioritizes strength while keeping weight low for payload efficiency and off-road stability.
-
Highly configurable mounting ecosystem â Integrated T-slot channels and accessory compatibility allow mounting of rooftop tents, awnings, traction boards, lighting, and expedition gear without custom fabrication.
-
Designed for full-system integration â Works as part of the broader Backwoods DRIFTR ecosystem, enabling a continuous, unified âfront-to-backâ cargo deck appearance when combined with matching roof rack components.
-
Bolt-on installation with required base rack â It is not a standalone product; it requires the Backwoods Tacoma bed rack system for proper mounting and alignment.
-
Overland-focused versatility upgrade â Experts value it for turning a standard bed rack into a multi-tier expedition platform, especially for users running rooftop tents plus heavy gear setups.

Maintenance Tips Â
-
Rinse after off-road use: Clean dirt, mud, and road salt from T-slots, joints, and mounting points to prevent corrosion buildup
-
Inspect all bolts regularly (monthly/seasonal): Re-torque hardware after rough trails, heavy loads, or rooftop tent use
-
Clean T-slot channels: Remove dust and grit so accessories (awnings, tents, mounts) slide and lock securely
-
Check alignment under load: Ensure topper stays square with base bed rackâlook for shifting after long trips
-
Protect powder coat finish: Touch up chips early to prevent oxidation on exposed aluminum edges
-
Avoid overloading upper rails: Respect dynamic load limits, especially with rooftop tents or cargo platforms
-
Lubricate hardware lightly: Use anti-seize on threaded fasteners to prevent galling (common with aluminum systems)
-
Inspect after vibration-heavy trips: Off-road travel can loosen fastenersâalways verify tightness before next trip
-
Keep drainage paths clear: Prevent trapped moisture in channels and crossmembers  Â
