Backwoods Adventure Toyota Tundra Bed Rack - DRIFTR Topper (Add-on) - BWTU3B-9750

Our Toyota Tundra Bed Rack DRIFTR Topper essentially adds an entire roof rack on top of your full height bed rack. If you need additional height to clear the cab of your truck because of a longer, wedge style roof top tent, this will allow you to achieve that. Without the topper, our full height bed rack is flush or nearly flush with the cab. When paired with our DRIFTR Roof Rack, you get a super solid, even level deck from the front of your truck to the back.

Features
  • Adds a DRIFTR roof rack to the top of our Full Bed Rack
  • Super strong 0.25" thick aluminum side rails
  • Side rail handle cutouts
  • Cutouts also compatible with Agency 6 Handles
  • Free powder coat
  • Includes 7 triple slotted extrusions
  • Allows easy mounting of a roof top tent or other gear
What our Experts Think
  • Integrated overland expansion system: The BWTU3B-9750 DRIFTR Topper is a modular add-on for the Backwoods Adventure Toyota Tundra Full Height Bed Rack, effectively converting it into a full-length roof rack platform for expanded cargo capability.
  • High-strength aluminum construction: Built with 0.25” thick aluminum side rails, it maintains rigidity while keeping weight low, making it suitable for rooftop tents, recovery gear, and heavy expedition loads.
  • Expanded mounting versatility: Includes 7 triple-slotted extrusions, giving extensive T-slot compatibility for accessories like awnings, deck panels, traction boards, and custom overland setups.
  • Purpose-built RTT clearance solution: Designed to raise the rack height so wedge-style rooftop tents clear the cab roof, enabling full-width sleeping platforms and continuous rack systems.
  • Seamless system integration: Requires the Backwoods Full Height Bed Rack and mounts directly on top without drilling, creating a cohesive, factory-aligned overland structure.
  • Best suited for: Tundra owners building a serious overland rig needing maximum modular storage, RTT capability, and full-length rack continuity for gear-heavy expeditions.

Q&A

Q1: What is the BWTU3B-9750 DRIFTR Topper used for?
A: It is a modular add-on for the Backwoods Adventure full-height Tundra bed rack, designed to expand the system into a full-length DRIFTR roof rack platform for overlanding and gear mounting.

Q2: What does the DRIFTR Topper do?
A: It effectively adds an additional upper rack layer, creating a continuous mounting surface for rooftop tents, cargo boxes, and expedition gear across the bed rack system.

Q3: What vehicles is it compatible with?
A: It is designed for the Toyota Tundra (2022+ 3rd Gen models) when paired with the required Backwoods full-height bed rack system.

Q4: Is the base bed rack required?
A: Yes. The Backwoods full-height bed rack is required—the topper is not a standalone product and must mount on the existing rack.

Q5: What materials is it made from?
A: It is built from heavy-duty aluminum (approx. 0.25” thick side rails) with a powder-coated finish for corrosion resistance and off-road durability.

Q6: What is its main benefit for overlanding?
A: It creates a flush, extended cargo platform from cab to rear, improving rooftop tent clearance and maximizing usable mounting space for long expeditions.

Q7: What can you mount on it?
A: It supports rooftop tents, awnings, traction boards, cargo boxes, and modular overland accessories using slotted extrusion mounting points.

Q8: Is it modular or fixed?
A: It is modular, allowing accessory repositioning via slotted rails for flexible overland setups.

Q9: What are the key benefits?
A: Expanded cargo capacity, improved rooftop tent compatibility, high-strength aluminum construction, and a unified rack system for overlanding builds.

Maintenance Tips
  • Wash regularly with fresh water to remove dirt, mud, and road salt buildup
  • Dry completely after cleaning to prevent corrosion at joints and fasteners
  • Inspect all mounting points and re-tighten bolts after off-road driving or heavy loads
  • Apply light lubricant to adjustment points and hardware to prevent squeaks and wear
  • Clean T-slot channels to ensure smooth accessory mounting and sliding
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners; use pH-neutral soap to protect powder-coated finish
  • Check for coating chips or scratches and touch up promptly to prevent oxidation
  • Ensure proper load distribution to reduce stress on rack structure and bed rails
  • Periodically inspect welds and frame connections for fatigue after rough terrain use
  • Remove heavy dirt or salt from crossbars and panels to maintain long-term durability
