The EL6021 serial interface enables the connection of devices with RS422 or RS485 interface. These devices communicate with the automation device via the coupler. The active communication channel operates independently of the higher-level bus system in full or half duplex mode at up to 115.2 kbaud. The transmission of differential signals according to RS422 guarantees high immunity to interference through electrically isolated signals.

The EL6021 is an EtherCAT terminal produced by Beckhoff. The EL6021 has robust electronics and a solidly built outer housing. Due to these features, it can withstand extreme temperatures and very high humidity conditions. The system’s performance remains uncompromised in a temperature range of -25 to 60ᵒ C (for storage: -40 to +85 degrees Celsius). It can be interfaced with RS422/485 interfaces. The system has a line impedance of 120 ohms and comes with an approx. 1000 m cable that is extremely handy when a long-distance operation is required.
Full and half-duplex channels are provided for transferring data and the default data transfer rate is 9600 baud. Since Beckhoff’s products are designed for operating in all kinds of environments, which include very harsh conditions, the EL6021 comes with a design that conforms to the international protection IP20 class standards. IP 20 ensures that the enclosure is protected against solid objects up to 12 mm in diameter. The system is very lightweight and has a mass of just 55 g. Overall, the EL6021 is suitable for a variety of applications owing to its flexibility and high functionality.
