Fujifilm XF 2x TC WR - 148445

Teleconverter for X Mount lenses

The "FUJINON TELECONVERTER XF2X TC WR" is a high-performance teleconverter capable of multiplying the focal length of mounted lenses* by two. It features an excellent optical design with a construction of 9 elements in 5 groups to maintain the optical performance of the original lens. Also, thanks to the unified design when mounted to a compatible lens, the teleconverter is weather and dust-resistant and operates at temperatures as low as -10°C. This makes it possible to be used with confidence outdoors when used with the weather and dust-resistant camera body, and lens.

High image quality design which maintains the optical performance of the original lens*

Construction of 9 elements in 5 groups maintains the optical performance of the original lens.

By using the optimal image quality parameters for the overall characteristics of the original lens and 2x teleconverter, excellent imaging performance with great aberration suppression is still achieved.

The aperture becomes two f-stops higher when the teleconverter is mounted, and the camera displays and records information reflecting the change in aperture and focal length.

Autofocus performance

Phase detection AF is still available when using the XF50-140mmF2.8 R LM OIS WR with the 2x teleconverter mounted.

Contrast Detection AF is still available when using the XF100-400mmF4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR with the 2x teleconverter mounted. Accurate focusing at super-telephoto focal lengths with shallow depth of field is possible thanks to the AF performed by the image sensor thanks to mirrorless cameras' "Live View".

The optical image stabilization performance

The camera's optical image stabilization performance** is unaffected by the addition of the teleconverter.

Weather and dust-resistant and -10°C low-temperature operation

Using the teleconverter with a weather-resistant camera, such as the FUJIFILM X-T1 or X-Pro2 mirrorless digital camera and the FUJINON XF50-140mmF2.8 R LM OIS WR or XF100-400mmF4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR lens does not affect the weather resistance of the system.

High-grade subtle appearance

The teleconverter's high-grade metal exterior has been designed with the X system in mind. When attached to a compatible FUJINON lens, the two products appear as one single lens.

What our Experts Think
  • The Fujifilm XF 2x TC WR (148445) is a weather-resistant teleconverter designed to double the focal length of compatible Fujifilm X-mount lenses, effectively turning your existing telephoto glass into a much longer reach solution.
  • It is mainly used with the XF 50–140mm f/2.8, XF 80mm macro, and XF 100–400mm lenses, extending reach up to 800mm (and beyond in full-frame equivalent terms) depending on the lens.
  • Experts highlight its compact and lightweight design (~170g, ~30mm length), making it an easy “in-between” upgrade instead of carrying a second super-telephoto lens.
  • The optical design (9 elements in 5 groups) is engineered to preserve as much of the original lens quality as possible, maintaining usable sharpness and contrast for most real-world shooting.
  • The biggest trade-off is expected: ~2 stops of light loss, meaning higher ISO or slower shutter speeds are required, especially in low light.
  • Autofocus performance can remain acceptable on fast lenses, but may slow down or hunt more on slower-aperture telephoto setups, particularly in challenging light conditions.
  • Image quality is generally described as good but not identical to native lenses, with some loss of sharpness—more noticeable at extreme focal lengths or pixel-level viewing.
  • Professionals value it most for wildlife, sports, and aviation photography, where extra reach matters more than perfect optical perfection.
  • Overall, it’s considered a cost-effective way to extend telephoto reach without investing in a larger, heavier super-telephoto lens, as long as you accept the trade-offs in light and sharpness.
Q&A

Q: What is the Fujifilm XF 2x TC WR (148445)?
A: The Fujifilm XF 2x TC WR is a weather-resistant X-mount teleconverter that doubles the focal length of compatible Fujifilm XF lenses, effectively extending your reach for wildlife, sports, and telephoto photography.

Q: What does the XF 2x teleconverter do?
A: It magnifies the image by 2x while maintaining camera communication (AF, metering, OIS, EXIF), allowing full functionality of supported lenses.

Q: What is the light loss when using it?
A: It reduces light by 2 stops, so you’ll need to compensate with slower shutter speed, higher ISO, or wider aperture (if available).

Q: Which lenses are compatible with the XF 2x TC WR?
A: It is designed for select telephoto XF lenses such as the XF 50–140mm f/2.8, XF 100–400mm f/4.5–5.6, and XF 80mm macro.

Q: What focal length increase can I expect?
A: It doubles reach—for example, a 100–400mm becomes 200–800mm, significantly extending telephoto capability.

Q: Is it weather sealed?
A: Yes. It is dust- and weather-resistant, designed to maintain the sealing of compatible Fuji WR lenses and bodies for outdoor use.

Q: How does it affect image quality?
A: It preserves optical performance well, but some loss of sharpness and contrast is expected due to magnification, especially at long focal lengths.

Q: What is it best used for?
A: Wildlife, birds, sports, and any situation where extra reach is more important than maximum aperture or absolute sharpness.

Maintenance Tips
  • Store the Fujifilm XF 2x TC WR (148445) in a padded, dust-free pouch to prevent impact damage and contamination.
  • Always attach front and rear caps when not in use to protect optical elements and mounts.
  • Clean glass surfaces with a microfiber cloth and air blower only—avoid liquids, solvents, or abrasive materials.
  • Handle gently when mounting/dismounting to avoid stressing the electronic contacts and lens mount.
  • Keep in a cool, dry place with silica gel packs to minimize humidity and prevent internal fungus.
  • Although weather-resistant, avoid prolonged exposure to rain, salt spray, or high moisture environments.
  • Do not touch optical elements directly to preserve coating integrity and image quality.
  • Inspect mount contacts periodically and keep them clean for reliable communication with camera and lens.
