Yamaha YOB-441IIMT Intermediate Oboe - YOB441IIMT

The new Yamaha YOB-441IIMT intermediate oboe has been updated with additional keys and features to increase performance and playability.  The addition of a third-octave key makes playing difficult passages easier.

The YOB441IIMT Yamaha oboe was specifically developed for middle and high school students and boasts a modified conservatory key system that provides trill keys and options needed to play classical and modern student materials.

The Yamaha YOB-441IIMT is the only intermediate student oboe available with an injection-molded inner bore in the lined upper joint where the lining extends into the tone holes. This design eliminates issues with cracking joints and acts as a moisture barrier.

The size and placement of the tone holes provide accurate intonation and make the YOB441IIMT a professional-sounding intermediate oboe. Constructed of the finest quality aged and seasoned Grenadilla wood, the new 441IIMT oboe maintains a traditional oboe's rich, professional sound.

The YOB-441IIMT Yamaha oboe is a breakthrough at this instrument level, combining a warm-sounding Grenadilla wood body with the strength of an injection-molded inner bore. Music educators across the country will appreciate the added performance and playability of this new Yamaha oboe. Contact Andy's and order yours today.

Maintenance Tips
  • Clean After Every Use: Always use a cleaning swab or cloth to remove moisture from the inside of the oboe after each use. This helps prevent pad damage and keeps the instrument in optimal condition.
  • Wipe Down the Exterior: After playing, wipe down the body and keys with a soft, dry cloth to remove fingerprints, dirt, and oils. This keeps the finish looking clean and prevents buildup.
  • Clean the Bocal: Clean the bocal regularly to prevent moisture buildup, which can cause mold or bacteria growth. Use a cleaning rod and a soft cloth to wipe the inside of the bocal after each use.
  • Keep the Pads Dry: Avoid excessive moisture buildup on the pads. When not in use, store the oboe in its case to protect the pads and prevent warping or damage.
  • Check the Key Mechanism: Periodically check that all keys are functioning properly and that they are not sticking. If there are any issues with key action or alignment, take the oboe to a professional technician.
  • Use Cork Grease: Apply cork grease to the tenons and joints to ensure a secure, smooth fit. This also helps prevent damage to the cork and makes assembly easier.
  • Proper Storage: Always store the oboe in its case when not in use to protect it from dust, dirt, and physical damage. Avoid leaving it in extreme temperatures or high humidity.
  • Pad Care: If you notice any pads are not sealing properly, take the oboe to a professional for repairs. Regular use of a pad dryer can help maintain pad quality and avoid moisture buildup.
  • Regular Professional Checkups: Have the oboe checked and serviced by a professional technician every year or when you notice issues with tuning, key action, or leaks.
  • Avoid Dropping: Be mindful of the oboe's delicate keywork and mechanism. Always place the instrument gently on a stand or in its case to avoid damage.
