Rinse After Each Dive: Rinse the regulator with fresh water to remove salt, sand, and chlorine. Do not fully submerge the regulator in water to prevent water from entering the first stage. Instead, rinse it carefully under a gentle stream.
Flush the Regulator: If the regulator is connected to a tank, briefly press the purge button to flush the second stage with fresh water. This helps remove any saltwater or debris that may have entered.
Dry the Regulator: After rinsing, allow the regulator to air dry in a cool, shaded place. Hang it in a well-ventilated area, ensuring the mouthpiece and hoses are free from moisture buildup.
Inspect for Leaks: Periodically test the regulator by attaching it to a tank and listening for any air leaks. If you hear leaks, check the O-rings, hoses, and connections. Replace any worn or damaged parts.
Check Hoses and Connections: Inspect hoses for cracks, wear, or kinks. Ensure all connections are secure and the O-rings are in good condition. If any hoses are damaged, replace them immediately.
Lubricate O-rings: Apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the O-rings on the first and second stage regulators, as well as hose connections. Avoid petroleum-based lubricants, as they can degrade rubber O-rings.
Store Properly: Store the regulator in a padded bag or case when not in use, keeping it away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Ensure that the regulator is not under pressure during storage (disconnect from the tank).
Annual Service: Have the regulator serviced annually by a certified technician to ensure it is functioning correctly. Regular servicing helps maintain its reliability, especially in high-pressure components.
