Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) Efficiency – Captures up to 30% more energy than PWM controllers by dynamically adjusting to optimal solar power levels.
Digital Meter for Real-Time Monitoring – Provides instant system feedback, displaying charging status, battery voltage, and power output for easy diagnostics.
What’s the difference between PWM and MPPT?
MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) technology is more efficient as it adjusts the voltage from solar panels to match the battery voltage, optimizing energy harvest. PWM is simpler, controlling the voltage by reducing it to match the battery voltage, but it’s less efficient, especially under less-than-ideal sunlight conditions. However, PWM controllers are often more affordable and still highly reliable.
Can I use the Tristar TS-60-M with lithium batteries?
While the TS-60-M supports several types of batteries, lithium batteries typically require a more specific charging profile. You can use the TS-60-M with lithium batteries as long as you manually configure the settings to suit the lithium battery’s needs, but MPPT controllers are typically more suitable for lithium-based systems.
What is the maximum panel size I can use with the TS-60-M?
The maximum panel input voltage is 100V, and the controller can handle up to 60A of charging current. Depending on your panel voltage and the configuration of your system, you can pair it with a suitable array size, but you’ll need to ensure that the total wattage and panel voltage are within the limits.
How do I monitor the system remotely?
The TS-60-M is compatible with Morningstar’s remote monitoring solutions, such as the MS-RM-1 Remote Meter. This option allows you to monitor system data from a distance for more comprehensive management.
